“Exile”, oil on canvas, 46 x 36 cms. 2024  £1500

Neil Moore

Welcome to my website.

I am a figurative painter based in the UK. Although I appreciate many aspects of life, it is only people that I love and that I continue to be fascinated by. Unlike many painters I don’t see things and want to paint them. My imagery arises out of my life experience (either directly or vicariously from the arts and media) and is always metaphorical.

If you are interested in purchasing or exhibiting my artwork, please note that I don’t do commissions or repeat images.

To the right (or above, if you are viewing this on your phone) you will see news of my current exhibition together with the ‘back story’ to the painting.

Below are a few examples of my paintings and drawings. I hope they will interest you enough to find out more about me and my artworks.

The painting above “Exile” is currently on show with my new work in my Warwickshire Open Studio exhibition at my home until the 6th July 2025. For details of where and when you can see my exhibition go to www.wostudios.org

I am at Venue number 79.

The back story to “Exile”

Many years ago when I was taking a roll film to the chemist to be developed, the assistant asked if I needed help and, being English, I indicated that the woman to my left was before me. The assistant gave me a quizzical glance and when I followed her eyes to the woman, I discovered to my embarrassment that it was in fact a cardboard life size image (the Kodak girl). It made me realise that subliminally when you see a lifesize image on the periphery of your vision you relate to them as an actual person. When the subject of the painting allows I try, as with this tiny painting, to make the figure ‘life size’ to tap in to this special connection with real figures.
